Our Approach
Client Focused Investment Style Philosophy

Our greatest strengths are our people and our technology, and we are committed to having the best of both.

Our Structure
The PIMCO Group has more than 1,200 employees, including 425 investment professionals, servicing institutional investors, both separate account clients and mutual fund clients, around the world.
*as of 30 September 2009

PIMCO Australia Pty Ltd began doing business in Australia in 1997 and maintains the philosophy that hard work, high standards of excellence and the desire to be the best are critical to our success. Our ability to grow and maintain the high level of performance and service for which we are known derives from the stability and experience of our team.

Our flat and focused management structure creates a shallow hierarchy enabling quick responses to an ever-changing external environment.

The three key areas of the organisation are:

  • Portfolio Management
  • Account Management
  • Business Management

The Role of Portfolio Management
PIMCO's portfolio management team employs the PIMCO Group investment process, which works on a consensus basis to ensure that all accounts with similar objectives will have similar structures. This process can best be described as a hub and spoke system. The senior Generalist Portfolio Managers make up the hub and receive input from specialists in each market sector. These sector specialists relay timely information, provide strategic ideas and trading strategies and assist with execution.

The Role of Account Management
Account Managers are primarily responsible for maintaining the client relationship and monitoring investment strategies to ensure they comply with client objectives. This monitoring process includes translating client objectives into portfolio guidelines, reviewing account activity for consistency with guidelines, and keeping clients well informed about PIMCO's strategy and outlook. Account Managers also have an important role in providing input to the firm's investment forecasts and contributing to product and development efforts.

The Role of Business Management
PIMCO's business management focuses on:

  • Establishing strategic initiatives
  • Developing firm-wide technology and analytics
  • Overseeing compliance and regulatory functions
  • Providing timely record keeping and investment support
